Biography Mary Desmond was born in Liverpool and raised in an Irish family in Lancashire. 

After gaining a BA in Architecture in 1984 she worked in practices in London and Spain before completing an MSc in Building Design for Developing Countries at UCL in 1990. In the early 1990’s she transferred to Madrid and first began to study painting, enrolling in the Circulo de Bellas Artes figure drawing classes.  In 2005 she relocated to Rome with her Italian husband and three children. She gained a Masters in Painting in 2008, following which she attended several painting courses at the Slade, UCL.

She currently lives and works in Rome.
